50 Short Bible Verses

Here are 50 short verses to start your habit of hiding the Word in your heart. If you begin to practice memorizing at least one of these each day and say it for the whole week within a few short months you will know a lot of bible verses.

These short bible verses are from the New King James or the New International Versions.

  1. John 11:35 (NKJV) – “Jesus wept.”
  2. 1 Thessalonians 5:16 – “Rejoice always, ”
  3. Romans 10:13 – “For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
  4. Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
  5. Matthew 11:30 (NIV) – “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
  6. Matthew 5:14 – “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
  7. Colossians 3:20 – “Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.”
  8. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 – “pray without ceasing,”
  9. Psalm 56:3 – “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.”

And one that’s a bit longer…

Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”
